Topaz Lake

Location and Directions:

     Topaz Lake is located in Douglas/Mono counties along the California / Nevada border. It is the last lake along the CA-395 before going into Nevada, 130 miles North of Bishop, CA.


General Info:

    This is a fairly large lake of 1,800 surface acres and 25 miles of shoreline. It is fed by the West Walker river. The lake is open from Jan. 1 through Sept. 30.     There is a boat launch at Topaz Marina and rentals are also available. Topaz Marina: (775) 266-3550


Fishing Info:

    The lake is stocked with rainbow and brown trout from both California and Nevada state hatcheries. This lake is known for big brown trout up to 20 pounds. Best fishing areas are at the Walker river inlet canal and the North shore. Be sure to visit the CDFW web site for complete regulations before heading out.
