Union Valley Reservior

Location and Directions:

    Union Valley Reservior is located in El Dorado County and is part of the El Dorado National Forest. From Sacramento, take Hwy. 50 East past Placerville to the town of Riverton. Go North on Ice House Road to the reservior.

General Info:

    This is a fairly large reservior of 2,890 surface acres at an elevation of 4,900 feet. Camping is available at several sites located around the lake. Swimming, water skiing and jet skis are allowed. Union Valley Reservior Ranger District: (530) 644-6048, Ice House Resort (530) 293-3321, Camping Reservations (800) 280-CAMP.

 

Boating Info:

    The are four boat ramps located at Jones Fork, Peninsula, Yellowjacket and West Point near the dam.

Fishing Info:

    There are rainbow trout, brown trout, kokanee salmon, mackinaw, small and largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill and catfish here. Trollers score well here on the macks at 50-100 feet and trout at 10-30 feet.
