     Lake Jennings is located in San Diego County, approx. 20 miles northeast of San Diego. From San Diego take I-8 East to Lake Jennings Park Rd. (67), which is 6 miles past the city of El Cajon. Turn Left (North) and travel 1/4 mile to the lake entrance.


General Info:

    This is a small lake consists of 85 surface acres. Other than catfishing season the lake is normally open 6am to 7pm Fri thru Sun. The open/close time can vary according to sunset/sunrise. During Catfishing Fri is 5pm to 1130pm, Sat 6am to 1130pm, Sun 6am to 8pm. Normally open on holidays 6am to 8pm unless its wintertime. There are campgrounds for tents and RV's at the north part of the lake and a consession stand near the boat ramp. There are also picnic tables and hiking trails. Boating Info:

    There is a single lane launch ramp available for $6. Rental boats are available at the marina for $20 - rowboat, $40 - motorboat. There is a 5mph "No-Wake" rule. Boats fishing at night time must have a running light visible for 360 degrees.


Fishing Info:

    Fishing permits are $7 for adults, $6 for seniors. Night fishing is allowed during the summertime. Rainbow trout are stocked here during the Winter months by the county and catfish during the summer. There are also largemouth bass, crappie, redear and bluegill here. There is also a fishing float with handicap access near the marina. The lake closes for fishing August through October. Be sure to visit the CDFW web site for complete regulations before heading out.


Comments and Tips:

     This is an excellent crappie lake which is often over-looked by the trout and catfish anglers that come here.

  •      The lake is nomally low in the summer and high in the winter. ROBO's, FAT IKA's, & SENKO's are definitely the best plastics. Use Watermelon, Green Pumpkin & Brown , Black Flake makes a big difference also. Patience is the name of the game. A great Trout lake, Pretty good Catfish lake, and a good Bass lake provided you have some experience. Have fished the lake for 30 years on a weekly basis and can truely say that the group of people who run the lake & camp grounds are OUTSTANDING.
