Scott's Flat Reservoir

Location and Directions:

23333 Scotts Flat Rd.
Nevada City, CA 95959

    Scott's Flat Lake is located in Nevada County, about 70 miles NE of Sacramento. From Sacramento take I-80 East towards Reno. Exit CA-49 North (turns into CA-20 East) Turn right on Los Altos Dr. and left on Greenlee Woods Lane. Left on Scott's Valley Rd. to the lake.


General Info:

    The lake has 7 miles of shoreline set at an elevation of 3,000 feet. It is open year round, sunrise to sunset for fishing, camping, boating, hiking and swimming. Entrance fee is $6.50 per vehicle.


Camping Info:

    RV and tent camping are available at the Scotts Flat Lake Campground.

Boating Info:

    There is a launch ramp available for $13. PWC (jet-skis) are not allowed. Boat rentals are available at the marina.


Fishing Info:

    The CDFW stocks rainbow trout during the summer months. There are also brown trout, kokanee salmon, small and largemouth bass, catfish, and bluegill here. Be sure to visit the CDFW web site for complete regulations before heading out.



Comments and Tips:

     Scott's flat in Nevada county: I know from the past, when my son and I would go camping there, We would fish from the shore. Power bait worked really good. Lite green in color. Pulled in some very good size trout, big enough for dinner. Phil
