     Lake Casitas is located just North of Ventura. From Hwy 101 take Rt. 150 East to the lake.


General Info:

    Lake Casitas consists of approx. 2,500 surface acres, set at an elevation of 600 feet. It is open year round from sunrise to sunset. Entrance fee is $5 per auto. Boating Info:

    There are several launch ramps for a $5 fee. An over-night marina is available for $6/night. They have rental boats for $24-$70 and $15-$28 for rowboats. No body-contact with the water allowed.


Fishing Info:

    Rainbow trout are planted during the winter and spring months by the DFG and Mount Lassen Hatchery. There are also some very BIG Largemouth Bass, Catfish, Crappie, and a good population of Red Eared sunfish in the lake. Largemouth Bass record is 21.3 pounds. Be sure to visit the CDFW web site for complete regulations before heading out.

Comments and Tips:

     At times, live crawdads (the premature soft-shelled kind) can KILL the Red Ears here. If you can find them they're usually not cheap at around $8 a dozen but well worth it.
