Folsom Lake

Location and Directions:

     Folsom Lake is located northwest of Sacramento near the city of Folsom. From hwy. 50 take Folsom Blvd. to the lake.


General Info:

    Folsom Lake consists of 11,950 acres with over 75 miles of shoreline. Elevation is 466 feet above sea level. It is open year round, camping is permitted. For more information contact California Department of Parks and Recreation - Folsom Lake office at (916) 988-0205

Boating Info:

    There are several launch ramps around the lake. Some are free while others require a fee. Rental boats and jet skis are also available.


Fishing Info:

    This lake holds a variety of gamefish including Large and Smallmouth Bass, Channel and Blue Catfish, Trout, Kokanee, Crappie, Red-Eared Sunfish, and Bluegill. The lake is popular with both boat and shore anglers. Be sure to visit the CDFW web site for complete regulations before heading out.


Comments and Tips:

     This is a very popular boating and skiing lake, especially during the summer months. Fishing should be planned during the cooler months or early mornings or evenings when boat traffic is minimal.
