Berryessa Lake

Location and Directions:

     Lake Berryessa is located in Napa County near the city of Winters. From the bay area, take I-80 East to I-505 North to Winters. Then take hwy. 128 East to the lake.

General Info:

    This is a large lake at 25 miles long and 3 miles at it's widest point. It has a maximum depth of 275 feet. Camping is permitted at several locations around the lake.

Boating Info:

    There are several launch ramps around the lake. Some are free while others require a fee. Rental boats and jet skis are also available.

Fishing Info:

    This lake holds a variety of gamefish including Large and Smallmouth Bass, Channel and Blue Catfish, Trout, Kokanee, Crappie, Red-Eared Sunfish, and Bluegill. The lake is popular with both boat and shore anglers. Be sure to visit the CDFW web site for complete regulations before heading out.

Comments and Tips:

     Trolling for trout and kokanee is a popular fishing method here. During the warmer months, leadcore line and downriggers are used to present the lures in depths of up to 70 feet.
