Amador Lake

Location and Directions:

7500 Lake Amador Dr.
Ione, CA 95640

     Lake Amador is located in Amador County, approx. 60 miles southeast of Sacramento, CA and approx. 40 miles northeast of Stockton. From Stockton take the CA-88/Waterloo Rd east toward Jackson. Stay on CA-88 approx. 34 miles to Jackson Valley Rd. and turn right. Travel approx. 2 miles to Lake Amador Dr. and turn left to the lake.


General Info:

    This is a smaller lake consisting of 425 acres and 14 miles of shoreline, set at an elevation of 485 feet. It is open year round. Entrance fee is $10 per vehicle. RV and tent camping is available. There is also a fully-stocked general store and cafe. Lake Amador Resort

Boating Info:

    Boat launch fee is $7, $3 for kayaks, canoes and float tubes. There are also rentals available for $60-80 a day. There is no speed limit, however skiing and jet-skis are not allowed.


Fishing Info:

    Fishing fee is $8 per person. This lake is famous for it's "Cutbow" trout - a cross between steelhead, cutthroat and rainbow trout. Weekly plants of up to 5,000 pounds of trout averaging 2-6 pounds a piece has made this little lake an outstanding trout fishery. Also in the lake are largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill and catfish. Be sure to visit the CDFW web site for complete regulations before heading out.
