HESBROS

Made some plans with John "Klocked" to take him and his son "Little John" out on the "Hesbros". I decided Long Beach area would be best so if the wind was up we could still fish inside the break wall.
So Rich and my son Aaron and I met at Davies in Alamitos bay at 0500 and had the boat launched and on our way at 0530 or so. As we cleared the entrance to Alamitos Bay Idecided conditions were good enough to head outside. Our first destination was Izors Reef.
On the way to Izors the water temp dropped from 68 to 63 at Izors, WTH?
We fished Izors for a few short bitesand that was it, we metered fis but they were not ready and willing to play.
Made a move down the beach to "The Pipe" off Huntington, conditions were better and the water was up to 65-66 down there with some signs of life.
Here is a shot of Little John trying for that first fish.

Here is a shot of Aaron dreaming about fishing!

Was not long and Little John landed this decent Sandy with a litle help from a more famous fisherman, Me! LOL

We stayed on the pipre for a awhile making some moves, metering fish, bla bla bla. Aaron finally woke up and both the boys were fishing.
It looks like they are both thinking "where the heck are the fish?"!

Little John was able to catch some cods but we did not take any pictures.
It was slow at the pipe as well and the wind was coming up so I decided to start the heading back towards LB before conditions got to the point of beating up the boys. They were both down inthe cabin and I think they enjoyed the uphill run since it was like a roller coaster for them as we hit the bigger swells.
We decided to give Izors another try on the way up.
Here is our new Manual Fish Finder. "We dont see any fish"

Not really, they were happy to see these guys that were playful.

We drove around with them for a spell and the boys had fun watching them under the bow.
Izors was still not producing but Rich got this little Starry RF.

We headed back towards Queens Gate and tried fishign the outside of the wall, the wind was out of the south pushing us at the wall and I ws not comfy with that having two little guys on board so weheaded inside the harbor to try a few spots for a few small bass here and there. We ended up dropping anchor over a wreck that produces well at night.
It was not as productive during the day but we managed a few fish.
Little John and a Calico.

Me and a Sandy.

Big John got this nice Calico just under 2lbs.

Fishing was slow and the boys thought this was the best solution.

We pulled the Anchor and hit a few more spots en route to the launch ramp for a few more fish here and there that were not picture worthy.
We were off the water at about 1400.
It was a slow day fishing for us but the boys managed to keep their selves entertained and had a good time. Cant say the same for the frustration that Rich and I endured trying to put them on fish that would not cooperate.
As always John, you and Little John are welcome on the "Hesbros" any time. It was a pleasure meeting and having you on board little John and let me know when you want to go again!
