Got up at 5am for a trip out of LB with Olfishergal this morning. We were suppose to meet at my house at 6:30 but traffic and a few extra winks put her here at 7:30.
Got to 2nd street ramp, set up and launched by an hour later. A half scoop of bait and over to drift Seal Beach. After a half hour of drifting dead calm 67.4 degree water for nada we decide to move. Most of the fleet of moo moo is sitting about 4 miles outside the SB oilrig towards the Shoe. Moved out in that area to find warmer water at 69.2. Stopped a couple of times for breaking bait. Bait balls everywhere. Big ones. But no other fish. We tried everything, choves, dines and plastic. Still had the skunk, except for some Tommies and a few Macks.
With the wind and chop picking up after a couple hours, we move to the inside. We had our lunch at Shoreline Village, then started a drift between Chaffee and the beach. Played the next hour for some short butt, lizards, Tommies and more Macks. By 1:30 the winds were over 12mph and the waves were getting real sloppy. Had a great day with great company and it's better to be safe than sorry. Called it quits and headed for the dock.
As a side note, some guy got his boat ripped off at the dock. Coast Guard and police were everywhere in that harbor. There is no way that bum could have gotten past the cops. There was two boats with machine guns mounted by the ramps and another stopping people near the Harbormasters.
Here's proof I'm great at catching the little ones.
