Location and Directions:
San Vicente Res. is located approx. 25 miles NE of the city of San Diego off of Int. 8. From San Diego take I-8 East to El Cajon and then hwy. 67 North through Lakeside to Moreno Rd. Turn right and travel approx. 1-mile then turn left 1.5 miles to the lake.
The lake consists of 1,069 surface acres and 14 miles of shoreline set at an elevation of 659 feet. It is open year-round, sunrise to sunset on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Water and jet-skiing are allowed from Memorial Day through September (then only on Thurs. & Fri.) and fishing season begins mid October to Memorial Day. There is a lake store for tackle and supplies. There is a public launch ramp available for a $5 fee. Boat rentals are also available at the marina. (619) 668-3274. Float tubing is allowed. Float tubers must wear chest waders and have a Coast Guard approved personal flotation device readily available at all times, and have 144 square inches of international orange visible at least 12 inches above the water line. They must also possess a horn or whistle to warn approaching craft.
Fishing is allowed from mid-October to Memorial Day only. Permits are $4.50 per day for adults and $2.50 for children. Rainbow trout are stocke regularly during the winter months, however this lake is best known for it's Largemouth Bass fishing. There is a good population of healthy fish here. Some big Blue and Channel Catfish, Crappie, and Panfish are also found here.
