Lower Otay Res. is located in San Diego County near the city of Cula Vista. From San Diego, take hwy. 805 South to Telegraph Cyn. Rd. Then go East 8 miles to Wueste Rd. Go South to the lake.
General Info:
Lower Otay Res. consists of 1,265 surface acres at capacity and has 13 miles of shoreline set at an elevation of 490 feet. The lake is open year-round, sunrise to sunset on Wed., Sat., Sun. and holidays. Closed Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Year's Day. There is a lake store for tackle and supplies. (619) 465-3474. Boating Info:
They have a nice launch ramp available for a $5 launch fee. Rental boats are also available. Lake speed limit is 20 mph.
Fishing Info:
This lake is best known for it's Largemouth Bass fishing. There is a good population of healthy fish here. Some big Blue, and Channel Catfish, Crappie, and Bluegill are also found here. Fees are as follows: Adults (16 & over) - $5.00; Senior/Disabled - $2.50; Youth (8-15) - $2.50; Child (7 & under) - Free.

Comments and Tips:
Like many of the smaller trout-stocked lakes in San Diego county, Murray has a reputation of producing some record-sized largemouth bass. Several 15+ bucketmouths have been posted here. Using soft-plastic trout imitation lures is a good method to entice one of these hogs into biting.
