  Lakes Basin Rec. Area / Gold Lake

Location and Directions:

     Lakes Basin Recreational Area is located in Sierra County and is part of the Tahoe National Forest. From Sacramento take I-80 East past the city of Truckee to Hwy 89. Go North on 89 past Valley Ranch. Turn Right on Gold Lake Hwy., just before Graeagle.

General Info:

     Lakes Basin Recreational Area is most famous for it's popular "Frazier Falls" waterfall, but also has more than 50 small lakes and streams throughout the area. The largest of these lakes is Gold Lake, which offers boating and camping facilities. There are many other smaller lakes. Some of which can be driven to, and others are only accessable by hiking trail. For more information contact:

Boating Info:

    There is a public boat launch and rental boats are available at the marina

Fishing Info:

    Rainbow trout are planted here by the DFG.
