     Millerton Lake is located in Fresno County, approx. 12 miles NE of the city of Fresno, CA. From Fresno take hwy. 41 North. Turn right on Rd. 145 and follow it to the lake.


General Info:

    Millerton Lake consists of 4,900 surface acres and 40 miles of shoreline at capacity. It is approximately 15 miles long set at an elevation of 561ft above sea level. The lake was created by construction of the Friant Dam across the San Joaquin River in 1944. It is open year-round, sunrise to sunset for fishing, boating and camping. Day use fee is $10 per vehicle.     Tent, trailer and group camping are available at the State Recreation area. Maximum trailer length is 38ft. For reservations, click here.

Boating Info:

    There is a public launch ramp located in the State Recreation area. Launch fee is $7. Water-skiing, sailing and personal watercraft are allowed


Fishing Info:

    There are striped bass, largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, trout and catfish here. Be sure to visit the CDFW web site for complete regulations before heading out.



Comments and Tips:

      For stripers, try using topwater plugs in the early morning hours, then switch to trolling umbrella rigs later in the day.
