Juanita Lake

Location and Directions:

4148'58"N, 1227'18"W

    Juanita Lake is located in Siskiyou County, approx. 9 miles west of Macdoel, CA. From I-5 at Weed, travel northeast on State Hwy 97 approximately 35 miles to Ball Mtn Road. Turn west (left) on Ball Mtn Road and go approximately 4 miles to Forest Service Road 46N04. Turn right on 46N04 and continue to the lake

General Info:

    This is a small lake of 55 acres set at an elevation of 5,130 feet. It is open year round for fishing, camping and hiking. For more information call the Goosenest Ranger District at 530-398-4391.

Camping Info:

    Camping is allowed from May through September. There are 23 sites, including one double and one group site. They are available at a first come, first served basis.

Boating Info:

    There is a small launch ramp available. No motor boats are allowed.

Fishing Info:

    The CDFW stocks rainbow trout during the summer months. There are also brown trout, bass and catfish in here. There are two fishing jetties that provide handicapp fishing access. Ice fishing is allowed in mid-winter when the ice is a safe thickness (4 inches or more) to walk on. Be sure to visit the CDFW web site for complete regulations before heading out.

Comments and Tips:

     The DFG office is located nearby so if you are fishing here you can expect to have your license checked.
