Hensley Lake is located in Madera County, approx. 20 miles NE of the city of Madera, CA. From Fresno take hwy. 99 North past the city of Madera to Ave 20 1 East. This turns into Ave 21, continue East. Turns into Raymond Rd. (Road 600) go NE approx. 6 miles to Daulton Rd. (Road 603) turn right to the lake.
General Info:
Hensley Lake consists of 1,570 surface acres at capacity. Elevation is 540ft above sea level. It is managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers. The lake is open year-round, sunrise to sunset. Day use fee is $4 per vehicle, annual pass is $30. Swimming is allowed in designated areas.
- - Buck Ridge Recreation Area : Day use only. Boat launch, restrooms, picnic area, hiking and equestrian trails, hunting.
- - Hidden Lake Recreation Area : Day use only. Boat launch, restrooms, picnic area, hiking and equestrian trails, hunting.
Camping Info:
Camping is available on the west side of the lake in the Hidden View Campground. There are 55 campsites available from $20-$30 per night. The camp area features flush restrooms with showers and a trailer dump station. There is also has a self-guided nature trail, and playground. Campsites are equipped with a table, fire pit, and barbecue grill. Some sites have electric hookup. Some sites also have a shade shelter. There is a 14-day limit per stay. The Hidden View campground gates open at 6:00 a.m. daily. The gates close at 10:00 p.m. during peak season (President's Day weekend thru September 30) and 8:00 p.m. off-season.
