Grant Lake is located 11 miles north of Mammoth Lakes on Highway 158. From Hwy 395, go East on Hwy 158 (June Lake Loop).
Grant Lake is actually a series of four linked lakes called "The June Lake Loop" It is the largest at 1,000 surface acres. Most of the shoreline is accessible to the public by unpaved roads that connect to both California Route 158 and U.S. 395. For more information contact: Mammoth Lake Visitors Bureau (800) 367-6572. There is a launch ramp available and a full service marina with rental fishing boats. Water skiing and float tubing are permitted. A 10 m.p.h. speed limit is imposed until 10:00 a.m. each day, to accomodate the early morning anglers.
The fishing season starts the last Saturday of April and ends on November 15. The lake is stocked with rainbow trout by both DFG and Alper's Ranch hatcheries. There are also a few brown, brook and cutthroat trout in here too. Best fishing spots are across from the marina and where Rush Creek enters the lake.
