Fishing Info:

Fishing is allowed one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset. Rainbow trout are stocked here by the DFG. The lake has a reputation of growing some trophy-sized trout, including many in the 3-5 pound range. Nicknamed, "Eagle Lake Trout" they are claimed to fight like steelhead and taste like coho salmon. Due to the lakes high alkaline levels, only the rainbow trout and native tui chub minnows survive here. Be sure to visit the CDFW web site for complete regulations before heading out.

Comments and Tips:

Trout can often be found "boiling" on large schools of chub minnows pushed to the surface. Kastmasters and other spoons will work well during these times. Look for flocks of birds diving on minnows near the surface.
