California Aquaduct - Bakersfield

Location and Directions:

Taft Highway 119

     The California Aquaduct in Bakersfield is located west of I-5 in between Taft Hwy. 119 and McKittrick Hwy. 58.

General Info:

    You can access the aquaduct at numerous points where bridges cross it. You can park here and either walk or bicycle from there. The aquaduct is open year round for fishing, biking or hiking. Hunting is not allowed.

Fishing Info:

    There are striped bass, catfish, carp, largemouth bass and perch in here. The limit for striped bass here is 2 and they must be a minimum of 15 inches. Be sure to visit the CDFW web site for complete regulations before heading out.

Comments and Tips:

     Fish are found throughout the canal system, but tend to concentrate around the gates and siphons were the current is disrupted.
