There are large and smallmouth bass, crappie, catfish and bluegill in here. This is one of the hottest bass fishing lakes in California, probably the best in the US. Here's why: Each day it's open only 100 anglers are allowed to fish it. (25, 4-man parties) Also, there is a strict Catch and Release policy on all fish. For these reasons there is an extremely healthy population of fish here. Anglers have reported catching over 100 quality fish per day with 20+ fish days not uncommon. No bait of any kind is allowed and all lures must have barbless hooks. Be sure to visit the CDFW web site for complete regulations before heading out.
Comments and Tips:
During slow periods, the lake staff will occasionally allow anglers without reservations to pay the reservation fees at the front gate and enter with regular ticket holders.
