Camping in halfmoon bay and have been fishing it all week. Couple perch taps and a smelt is all I've caught. Decided to take a walk on the beach with my wife and of course i brought my pole. Saw a pod of whales off the coast feeding and watch them for a while. Just kept walking down the beach. Finally got to an area that looked fishy. Was fishing the normal perch set up with a 2 inch gulp sand worm. Second cast wham!!!! Hammered and pulling drag. Luckily I have 30 lb braided line spooled on that reel. Thought maybe a Halibut at first but finally got a glimps and saw it was mr stipey. Really steep beach and heavy surf didn't make it easy but finally landed him. Didnt weigh it or anything but pretty nice one i think. 3 stripe from the surf and second this year.Click image for larger version.
