Default My 1st Salmon Steelhead Rod! Guide Select Rods!

CHECK OUT THE FISHING VIDEOS MIXED IN OF USING THIS ROD OUT IN THE FIELD!

Okuma Never Knew I've Been Using Their Gear For a Long Time! I'm Dedicating This Video To My WA Fishing Buddy Can Robison & My FL Fishing & Diving Partner Wayne Harland.

Years ago after my buddy Dr Phil Nudelman took me Salmon fishing off the Columbia River off Ilwaco back in the early 80's i met Dan Robinson of WA. He finally came to Hawaii where i took him trolling & shore spinning & he took me off those COLD WA creeks for salmon. I got into a habit of buying new gear on every trip & leaving it with Dan until the following year.

But i mostly fish off FL where i keep my business. My buddy Wayne Harland there is my fishing & diving partner. So i kept a set of fishing & diving gear as well. When Phil took me to Ilwaco on my 1st trip i got "hooked". I love the culture & the people. Everyone thought i was indian as i was so dark. In Ilwaco i found a Chico's Pizza! In Hawaii i grew-up in Kaimuki, Honolulu. We had one there but it closed up. So when we found one in WA i knew i had to return.

But fate intervened. Within a month i lost both Dan & Wayne to "heart" issues. Their families never realized that my gear stored there wasn't there's so off it went.

This is how i was introduced to GSP. Guide Select Pro fishing rods. My first large Snook off Juno was on a GSP. My largest Steelhead was also from a GSP. For Salmon we used flasher plates & live/dead bait on Penn rigs.

The build on Guide Select Rods has improved traumatically since those early years. That tech gave birth to the SST "Salmon/Steelhead/Trout" line of rods. A less expensive GSP alternative. Nowadays i have equal numbers of both rods. So there are currently 4 lines of Guide Select Pro's-
    Guide Select Classics Rods
    Guide Select Cranking Rods
    Guide Select Swimbait Rods
Guide Select Pro Rods (my shoreline spinning favorite)
(They range from 7'6" to 12'3").

My favorites are the Guide Select Pro Rods! The model that i have 6 of is the 9'9", Medium, 9pc, 3/8-1oz, 8-17lb line. Half are in the states. A close second is my SST rods "Salmon/Steelhead/Trout". Similar build but less expensive. So my familiarity & background knowledge in Okuma products started early from local WA experts to expert knowledgeable store owners who were familiar with me at that time. None of the current Okuma people were aware of why i knew so much ahead of time. Cats out of the bag!
