We tried for lobster in LA harbor a couple of weeks ago but didn't catch anything so this time we took the Little Kolo over to Catalina and found some bugs! Launched around noon and headed to the island early to do a little rockfish before the sun went down. We caught numerous whitefish, calico bass, sheepshead and also around 50 mackerel which we kept for bait for next time. Just before sundown we loaded the traps with bait and dropped them over various stones that I had marked on my GPS. We waited a while and then pulled 3 sets of 10 traps throughout the night. We caught 9 legal lobster and threw back about as many shorts. First time I had been hooping in 4-5 years so I was glad to see some of my spots still produce!
