The rich do not supply jobs. If they did, why is there ever any unemployment? Wouldn't they like everybody to work and make money for them? Demand for goods and services supply jobs. Wealthy people acquire money from customers who they charge as much as they think they can get away with, typically, and from workers who generate more business than is returned to them in their paychecks. That's real economics 101.
That's right Donald Trump earned his money the old fashion way. (He inherited it) Then he proceed to lose most of it at Atlantic city! Then he turned to Real Estate development with the Banks money and then he proceeded to turn into a Dead beat and not pay his loans. (so the Banks cut him off) Then he proceeded to turn to crime in being a money Launderer for the Russian Mafia. (that's why we will never see those tax returns) So yea, Trump got his money through unscrupulous methods and inheritance. But he did run for President to enhance his Brand! He had no idea, people were that stupid that he actually could win. Melanie did cry when she heard he won! What does that tell you?
What ever happened to the argument that there's people that don't want to work these dead end jobs that are gladly filled by the cheap labor flooding across the borders??? There's unemployment because not everybody wants to work! LOL Yes and let's also offer another contradiction while we're at it that workers generate more business than is returned to them in paychecks so what's the return on investment from all the people on the government dole getting FREE welfare, housing, medical, tuition, what's being returned there professor? Don't forget repatriation and $12K a year that's being promised! Wow there's definitely going to be some double dipping! I think Andrew Yang is the winner winner chicken dinner if he goes along with repatriation and the $1000.
It looks like you are just throwing stuff out there to see if anything sticks, Steelhead. First of all, unemployment numbers are based on the percentage of people who are looking for jobs but cannot find one. It is not based on the total population, and there are people who don't seek work for a variety of reasons. Not everyone who is a productive member of society has a paying job. How about all the stay at home mothers -- or fathers -- out there? And there are philanthropic people who do volunteer work too. So no, we don't have unemployment because of people who are too lazy to work. We have it because of people not being hired for jobs, perhaps because they lack the requisite job skills, or there simply aren't enough jobs out there.
As for return on investment for the various social programs, estimates of that at least can be looked up. It differs with different programs, but this is money that tends to go back into the economy, and even be amplified, according to what I have read. Making people healthier and better educated are investments in the future which far more than pay for themselves ultimately. Even welfare helps local economies as the money is spent and stimulates further spending by consumers. On top of all this, remember that government is not meant to be run like a business. Government is not there to make a profit. It is there to provide services which will help society in the long run.
