I saw a couple of small Peacock Bass in Taiwan. These are very pretty, bass-like cichlids from South America. Other comments are correct that they would almost certainly not survive the winter around here, though. I wonder how a 2 pounder got into fairmount. Cichlids like these even have die-offs in places like Taiwan or south Florida when the weather gets cold.
I have never seen any of the exotic fish mentioned in this region, but I have never been around when the aliens land, either. LOL
"Yeah dogg! I got a new fish tank bro, I want something SUPER COOL to stock in there, you know, for the 'Gram."
"Well, what are you going to put in there?"
"Well, I'm a fisherman, dogg, and on Fox Sports I saw an episode of dudes catching Peacock Bass from the Amazon..."
"OK, so...those fish grow big...and your tank is 40 gallons."
"SO!? Peacock bass bro!!!" *high five* "Pass the Monster!!"
*5 months later*
"So what happened to your Peacock Bass, bro?"
"Yeah...well...you know where Fairmount Park is, right?"
*END SCENE*
I am more interested in this "White Bass" I have heard much about. NO, I am not being racial. But it was like fishing Piru, I was catching "different largemouth". Why??
Peacock bass grow really fast up to 2-3 pounds, according to this site. I doubted that a smaller, aquarium fish could grow to 2 pounds over the course of a summer, but it looks like perhaps they can. http://www.peacockbassassociation.co...****_bass.html
