Default Veterans Day Trout Tournament Day One Results 2014

    Good afternoon FNN,
Today was day one of the Veterans Day Trout Tournament weekend and what a day it was as 187 tournament anglers showed up to ply the waters of Irvine Lake in search of a Rainbow or Brown Trout that would earn them some cold hard cash and what a pay day it turned out to be as 1st place was paid $1248 dollars!!!!! The fish where on the chew today as all anglers trollers, bait and wait guys and the float tubers all got their fair share of fish. Finding the right schools of fish and staying on them was the key as some anglers came up with some very impressive stringers of fish.
Then there is the story of Ms Diana Cortez of VC Girlz who hooked into a monstrous Sturgeon which she fought for over 2hrs on 4lb test. The fish was guesstimated to be over 7ft long and pulled her all over the Santiago Flats proper and even greyhounded a mere 20ft from her at one point. Trust me when I get the photos and video I will be posting them it was INSANE! After the epic back and forth struggle for 2hrs the line finally gave in leaving Diana in tears. She was more upset for what it meant to the lake then anything else. I for one want to give her props for one just hooking the fish of a lifetime and two for fighting it for over 2hrs on just 4lb test. Those of you who where in the area or heard about know what I am talking about. Diana if you see this once again "Congratulations and great job!"
