Arrived a little late so I just tried to squeeze in with my band from O'Neil. No go... So I make the ride of shame back to the inspection station and then finally get on the water at about 7:20.
Trolled hard for 3 hrs and didn't put a fish in the boat until after 10am. Had more short strikes than I can remember ever having. Not sure if it was just micro dinks or what. I tried slowing down... Then speeding up to see if that would help.
What do you guys do to combat short strikes?
Anyway... A little after 10:00 my wife started catching fish. Over the next hour and a half she caught 8 (all dinks ) while I was still staring the stinky skunk in the face.
At about noon I told her that I hadn't made up my mind whether I wanted to leave or if we were staying until I caught a damn fish! 10 minutes later I boated a schoolie so then we trolled in. Off of the water by 1pm.
Lice was thick but not as bad as I expected with this heat.
Oh yeah... While I helped my wife with one of the fish she caught... I lost track of where I was headed and got my rig caught in the salad.
She thought it would be cute to snap this pic and post it on her Facebook with a caption that said.
"What I catch vs what the husband catches"
NOT COOL!!!!
Then.... As I'm writing this report I get this little picture via text from her... WTF??????
Needless to say... Neither the Mid nor my wife were very friendly to me today.
Oh well... I had fun anyway!
Here's my schoolie
