Default General rule of thumb for fishing the surf after a storm

alright guys, for you regulars that have been fishing the surf for years. What is the general rule of thumb for fishing the surf after a storm. Do you usually wait a week, two weeks, a day before you hit the surf again.

With the run off of fresh water coming into the surf line and the trash, was wondering when I should plan to hit the surf again.

I would wait at least a few incoming outgoing tides to help lower any bacteria the storm run-off may have brought out of the city drainage.
Never know what may come off the line during a cast LOL.

During a moon cycle with a big tide swing as we are having Bassmeister noted a few tide changes will do.
Exception is a place like LB where 2 big urban rivers exit, and 1 river dumps in the middle of the port.
I'd avoid LB for a week. Some storm drains create channels and structure.
