Congrats! It was only a few months ago that I caught my first from the surf. The legal was caught the next day! Keep at it. It is definitely rewarding to catch a fish of the "right kind."

My buddy and I hit this same AO on Sunday around 7:30. Cloudy conditions, choppy water and incoming tide. Caught a croaker...I think and lost another. However, by buddy landed a 20" halibut. It was his first one.
