This summer has started out with phenomenal fishing. The big news is the World Record (pending verification) California Halibut. On July 1, Captain Joe Villereal on the Mirage put his passengers on the spot and Frank Rivera pulled in a 67.2lb Halibut! Yesterday, July 3, also on the Mirage, a 59.1 lb was also weighed in on the newly installed certified scale at Channel Islands Sportfishing Center. This spring/summer has been producing BIG Halibut on our Outer Island Overnight trips. Daily we get reports from our fleet, with 25-50lb fish. The full day boats that fish local are also getting their share.

The White Seabass fishing has also been awesome! Again the Overnight boats, full day boats and the ½ day & ¾ day boats, have all had White Seabass in the counts daily.

The Calicos and Sand bass are now biting. Even a few Yellowtail!

The water is warming and the surface fishing has really picked up.
And the Rockfish continue as usual. :)

The weather has been perfect! That foggy overcast that keeps the waters calmer, some sun in the afternoons.
Tight lines, Happy 4th and happy fishing!
