ANYBODY KNOW IF THIS IS A WHITE OR BLACK CRAPPIE ? COMPARING DESCRIPTIONS OF THE TWO SPECIES WOULD LEAD ME TO BELIEVE IT'S A WHITE, BUT I'M NOT 100%
THIS ONE LOOKS LIKE A BLACK CRAPPIE

if im counting right they are both vlack crappie you can tell by the number of hard spines it has a white only has 5 or 6 while a bvlack has 7-8
...and the spots on a white crappie tend to be arranged in vertical bars
Good catch man real nice fish
The first is a female and the second is a male
I think the answer is that they are both Black Crappie (which are by far the more comon kind in California) but the first is a female, and the second is a male in spawning colors.
never said you werent right but that was not the question lol
I heard on you tube the best way to tell is that if the space from the noise to the first spine of the fin is the same length as the fin its self it is a black crappie. But if the space is longer than the fin it is a white crappie.
