    Default Black and white crappie

ANYBODY KNOW IF THIS IS A WHITE OR BLACK CRAPPIE ? COMPARING DESCRIPTIONS OF THE TWO SPECIES WOULD LEAD ME TO BELIEVE IT'S A WHITE, BUT I'M NOT 100%

THIS ONE LOOKS LIKE A BLACK CRAPPIE

I think the answer is that they are both Black Crappie (which are by far the more comon kind in California) but the first is a female, and the second is a male in spawning colors.

I heard on you tube the best way to tell is that if the space from the noise to the first spine of the fin is the same length as the fin its self it is a black crappie. But if the space is longer than the fin it is a white crappie.
