I know guys with 30+ years of experience that can't get a sniff of work and Union guys that can't work for -non-union companies for fear of being black-balled. Self righteous people full of themselves disgust me..
Are we talking about guys with 30 years of experience, or are we talking about +/- 20 year olds who are complaining about lack of employment? I thought this thread was about the latter.

Call it what you will, but at the risk of being redundant: if you're young, able bodied, and not up to a whole lot (not in school, not gainfully employed, wasting your time fishing instead of working, etc...), I just think the military is a solid option.

Sorry if that somehow hits home with you.

There are many paths to success in this lifetime, I can only speak of the one path (that nearly anyone can take) that eventually lead to positive things for me: U.S. Army.

I too got tired of being unemployed and out of work. doing roofing was not very fun either. I joined the Air national gaurd. After 1 year of being in, I landed a job in aerospace. 22 years later it pays almost 80k a year without working overtime. With no college education, this turned out to be a good choice for me. I think every one should serve there country if they are able. Hang in there and you will find something that works for you.

I tell all the kids I run into who seem to be aimlessly wondering around (Friends & their friends & Family mostly, not strangers YIKES!!)
That the Military is the place to go.. It will give you a lot of valuable insight into life, some good habits that you will/may carry with you throughout life. Also is a melting pot and you gain a heck of a lot of insight into what the future may hold.
    "Life Guidance" I call it!!!
Its an option thats almost always there for you (if your young & healthy enough).....

    Worked for me............
Sure changed my life around. I was headed the wrong way, FAST....
I didnt enlist, I got drafted in 1965 (Army)... Turned out to be an awakening & turning point.....

Same here. Army saved my arse from certain self destruction...drugs, crime, etc. In my case I used the service as a fail proof rehab program. Sure squared me away. I was 6' and maybe 100lbs soaking wet with a pocket full of bricks at the time and served in the artillery. If I was able to make it, I think anybody could.

Not to mention got a degree in Electronic Engineering - GI Bill

Bought a house with nothing down - GI Bill

Every employer I've had since loves seeing that on a resume. Shows hard work and dedication.

    Army is the ticket.

Do you have a creative yet perverted mind? You could be a Porno Director!
LOL, you have no idea how hard it is to make money in porn now. Trust me, I have experience on the producer end ~ Free tube sites are killing porn, the only stuff that makes it is the really big name stuff, "household" names (Tera Patrick, Jenna Jameson for example).

It's pretty bad when the economy is even killing THAT line of work.
