Thread: Berkley Crystal Fireline

    Default Berkley Crystal Fireline

First of all I would like to thank all that have been helping with my surf fishing education of late. I know what I do when I fish a carolina rig with grubs, but when fishing swim baits my question is this; when using Berkley Crystal Fireline (6# test) for the surf for halibut or other other species, should I tie directly to the lures or use a swivel and a flouro or mono leader. If a separate leader is suggested what # test do you recommend? I have been using BH 3" baits with 1/4 and 3/8oz jig heads and grubs.

    Thanks

    Mike

An 8lb flouro leader when fishing swimbaits is good if you are near rocks or kelp. If you are just in a sandy area you can get away with 6lb.
