Well the first day of the MLK derby is in the books and what a day it was. Nearly 800 people showed up today to ply the waters of Irvine Lake. Exactly 250 people entered the tournament bringing the payout to exactly what the the flyer stated it would be. I know for a fact that amount of people entered in the derby was a RECORD for this tournament.
Fishing was decent all around the lake but finding the better fish proved to be a bit of a challange. Guys who where trolling and jigging where defintely getting the bigger fish today. Daniel Han of Riverside trolled the Flats for his 14.12 Rainbow. Daniels fish bit a Firetiger Rapala.

Todd Thergesen of Orange bested this 8.2 Rainbow while fishing a orange powerworm from the West Shore.

Rob Forrest of Fountain Valley fished the launch ramp area in the flats for this very impressive 4.14 Brook.

Here are the tournamnet winners for the first day of the Martin Luther King tourny.
