For years Kastmaster Spoons/Lures has been a childhood favorite of mine. Simple yet effective. Now i see these popular lures selling extremely cheap on Amazon & eBay. They're NOT made by Acme & there must be a set time limit on patents as they're recently being offered at unbelievably inexpensive prices!
But the wording is deliberate. Most offer them as Kastmaster "Style" Spoons/Jigs/Lures. Years ago i could easily go through $20 worth in a week. Now i purchase +300pc at a crack for under $180! Seems i purchase a lot every 4yr or so. And no, i don't re-sell them. Over half i give away to my partners that i fish with. And the few companies that i deal with include free cases as well.
I stopped using them a few years ago when i became a Mustad Staffer. I've been using mostly their line of jigs. Like Tracershots & been fortunate enough to field test the new upcoming Muzashi Jigs developed by Hiroshi Takahashi. But now Mustad is going through some internal changes so it's given me more time to invest in other projects.
I've recently given away my last +80 KM so just ordered more. Pulled this 1 tray out to get them wet. I have noticed the Acme originals do stand-up better to corrosive salt water then these KM "Styles" do. Better quality no doubt.
