The final revised Alijos is ready. John Bretza, The Director of Product Development of Okuma has worked hard perfecting this release. All the prior issues has been re-solved. Here's the run down-
The Previous Drag Issue-
The original SS plate design wasn't correct. Slightly out of tolerance.
Side Loading Issues-
When you put more drag on a reel than what it was originally rated for it puts a side load on the pinion bearing. When the handle gets harder to turn when the drag is engaged that means the pinion gear is getting damaged.
What Improvements Were Added?
Every size now features a thrust bearing which improves the performance of the reel under heavy drag load without reducing the free-spool.
What Else?
The Alijos doesn't offer helical gears like the Andros or Makaira, only spur cut. Less concern about side loading issues. I also LOVE the T-Bar handle!
