Default How to Read Shimano Reel Date Codes of Being Manufactured!

Reels By Shimano! When & Where Was It Manufactured?

Look at the sticker on the reel's foot (older models it's printed). This Sedona 2500FD Date Code reads MD-P.

First Letter Represents Year of Manufacture (So M Represents 1988)
    A - 1976
    B - 1977
    C - 1978
At Z The Year Would Be 2001. So In 2002 This Process Starts Over With A.

Second Letter Represents The Month Of Manufacture (Months Are A-L)
    A - Jan
    B - Feb
    C - March
    So D Represents April.

Third Letter Designates Country Of Origin
    S-Japan Or P-Malaysia

So This Shimano Sedona 2500FD Reel Was Manufactured in April 1988 In Malaysia.

Letters Used To Be Stamped Into The Metal Foot But Now Stickers Are Used (to the dismay of Shimano reel collectors).
