Thread: Use Silicon Spray to Extend The Life of Your Power Windows!

Default Use Silicon Spray to Extend The Life of Your Power Windows!

I use Blaster 100% Silicone Spray. DO NOT USE WD40! It'll dissipate quickly. The gearing of most of replacement power window motor assemblies are plastic. So they do get chewed-up quickly under duress. Now if the glass is getting "pinched" by the window soft skirts that'll put more strain on the motor & the plastic gearing teeth.

So the silicone "moisturizes" the skirting just enough to allow the glass to slide easier while still maintaining a water seal. This will also extend the life of the skirt as well. Now the motor has a lot less restrictions & not much pressure is exerted onto the plastic teeth of the rotor. I hope this'll help extend the life of your power window assemblage.

(The SUV used was a Honda Pilot).
