Thread: Shimano budget combo! Fx4000 reel & scimitar rod!

  1. #1

Default Shimano budget combo! Fx4000 reel & scimitar rod!

THE SPIRIT OF THE $76 ROD & REEL FISHING COMBO LIVES ON!

Yup! The 8'6" Scimitar Rod costed me $49.99 & the FX4000 Spinning Reel was $25.99. This is a very affordable fishing rig for fresh to salt water applications! I spooled the reel with a tremendous amount of 10lb Eminent Braid by Soft Steel. I plan on using this combo off the estuary & ocean shorelines casting 15-20g jigs.

I'd classify this rig as an advanced beginners spinning outfit. There's nothing that i consider "cheap" about this. The MSRP may reflect this as an "entry level" fishing rig. But after examining the componentry i'd say the reel was given "just enough" features to land decent fish. Of the 2 i'd consider the rod to be above average. Has quality guides & a high guide count. The guide threads don't "creak" when flexed. And the weight feels "balanced" while holding & casting it.
