Water temperature: At surface 79.34 f., 7.55 D.O. @ 15’ 79.54 f., 6.75 D.O.Water level: Lowlevel, private watercraft are currently banned.Permits and boat rentals are sold at the Ranger Station. We are credit/debit only, no cash transactions. We do not sell fishing licenses so anglers must obtain them elsewhere prior to their visit. The lake offers $25 full day motor boats to seniors (60+) on Tuesdays and Thursdays and to active military every Saturday.
To protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels there is a ban on private watercraft and equipment. Restricted equipment includes; private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.
The lake will close for fishing and to the general public on weekdays, as it does every year, after Labor Day beginning Sept. 5th, but will remain open on weekends.
Catfish are biting at both ends of the lake. Lake Wohlford cats prefer cut mackerel or chicken liver.
Largemouth Bass can be found near structure. The bass are hitting rats, poppers, and dark colored plastics.
Black Crappie are being caught near Bass Point or the crappie float mostly early in the morning or on overcast days. They are most often caught using live golden shiners or mini-jigs.
Each month Whopper Contest winners in four categories are awarded a free fishing and boating permit. Contest winners must legally catch their fish at Lake Wohlford and have it weighed on our scale.
