Thread: Lake Hodges

    Default Lake Hodges

I heard a few years ago that Tilapia were accidently put in the lake during a catfish stock. I've seen them take over Lake Novia down in Mexico. I'm curious to hear if anyone is fishing for them or was this just a rumor?

I know they grow at a very rapid rate. Those hand sized fish could very easily be 2# fish now. 20 years ago I worked with Archer Daniel Midland in Decatur, IL to build stainless tanks to raise them to help feed the world. They choice tilapia because of their fast grow rate. They'll live in any water. I think they're the only fish still living in the Salton Sea.
