Okuma has been enhancing their Voyager Series of travel rods & the new "Big Boy" is the new Voyager Surf Travel Rods! I've truly been looking forward to receiving this rod. Since Okuma sold the Nomad name back to Nomad they have been enhancing their current travel rods with new releases.
The new 3 models are a 9ft Med, 10ft MH & this 10ft Heavy. All 4 sections have ferrule spigot connections, Fuji DPS Reel Seats & Fuji Tangle Free Guide Frames w/Fazlite inserts. All rods have non-slip shrink tubes to EVA fore & rear grips. Also UFR11 for Ultimate Flex Reinforcement of the rod tip. All rods come with a 1-yr Limited Warranty.
My impression? Travel versatility flying or driving, fresh or salt water usage. I consider this rod a MH for inshore species (ie Jacks, Drums, Roosters, etc). Great for hiking to your spots to hoping on a plane. Or just leave it in back of the car for "water" emergencies.
