Restricted equipment includes; private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.
The trout remain active particularly in Oakvale Cove and in Willow Cove. John Larsen of Murrieta had the biggest trout for January so far at 8.40#s. Mr. Larsen’s fish was caught using a pink hook-up bait in Boat Dock Cove. Inflated nightcrawlers and rainbow powerbait have been two of the top baits.
Limits of catfish are still being reported. Kyle Walker of Terrence, Ca. caught 35.10# catfish on Friday using cut mackerel at the West Buoy Line. . Lake Wohlford cats like chicken liver, shrimp, or cut mackerel.
Largemouth bass absent from the report for over a month are beginning to become active again and are being caught by unsuspecting trout anglers. Bass can be found lurking around structure and respond well to crawdads or dark colored plastics.
Each month Whopper Contest winners in four categories are awarded a free fishing and boating permit.
