Thread: Dinner or Released? By Blue Azores Reel!

Default Dinner or Released? By Blue Azores Reel!

Used Original Prototypes Blue Azores Reel & HCS 9'6" Shoreline Plugger!

This was a slow day fishing with beautiful scenery. Had a 8ft shark come to visit & got to help a couple put together their first dunking rig. I got to use prototype first runs on the Blue Azores Spinning Reel & HCS Shoreline Plugger from Okuma. I did hook a Blue Trevally Jack known locally as an "Omilu".

My gear was designed to handle larger fare but it was nice to re-introduce these pieces back into action again. It's my current medium range jigging/plugging/bait casting rig. These rods are extremely popular on The Big Island as local store Tokunaga's keeps running out.

The new Blue Azores retires the original series. Has enlarged gearing for salt water usage for extra cranking power & longevity. The 6K fits nicely as a "balanced" rig though a 8K will still work well on it. I did safely released the Omilu. Fishing at this location requires the use of barbless hooks for safe C&R's.
