Thread: I don't want to fish, I don't want to do anything!

  1. #1

Default I don't want to fish, I don't want to do anything!

The recent news have been disturbing... the vaccines, increased cases, new variants. When will these things stop? I have dealt with the pandemic pretty well but I'm losing my patience or I'm losing it completely. I am so stressed that I can't do anything normal now. I hate that this is the world we have to love in now, but I don't wanna go on. I don't want to do anything anymore. Can I just sleep and wake up when this is all over. :( Am I vrazy or what? Please tell me I'm not.

Make sure your up to date on the Covid 19 vaccine and wear your mask! Things will be OK, that's the same advice I'm giving myself and it's worked out pretty well so far!

Are you ok? You sound really down. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Just do something that will keep your mind busy. Maybe find a new hobby you can do at home.

Yes, I already had my vaccine and wear a mask every time I go out. It's just so depressing that this pandemic has affected us in so many ways. how's the situation where you live?

the pandemic really only effected me economically

had a great positive cash flow

real-estate mostly with a little in commodities and stock

covid ate up nearly 5 years of my personal money to fund the non producing llc's

general things like tax's , insurance trash maintenance an repairs normal expense's of ownership

still had to pay the state and feds their share

but i was lucky i had the savings to do it

have a beach house that i purchased 48 years ago which i turned into an abb
and moved to a old place a got in the 70's in murrieta , thought it would be green acres still but not hardly
same as the beach bulging with unlimited amounts of people all in a rush to go no where

the 15 is just as bad as the nickle bumper to bumper

miss the sound of the surf and the fog horn
not as many trains as there used to be so that was a none factor

but now i got livestock to listen to ,bad trade

"The Pandemic" was an interesting ride. Lost a relationship I was in for about a year because of it, mostly because the girl I was dating at the time, was one of those co-dependent people that needed validation from others constantly, and when she couldn't be in those social settings anymore because of the lock down, it really took a toll on her mentally. And since I've learned in the past few years that I'm not here on Earth to fix people, I pulled the parachute cord on that one quick.

But yes, the Pandemic really affected those extroverts really hard. You really got to see who's never been comfortable being alone the past year and a half.

Now, introverts like myself? Didn't affect me one bit, and in fact, I've been the strongest mentally that I've been in a while. I've traveled the most I have in the past year, and just followed common sense to remain Covid-free, knock on wood. As soon as the vaccines became available, I got my two doses, so I'm less stress free being outside now, knowing that if i do catch it, the chances of me getting hospitalized and becoming a drain on the public health system runs low. So, since March of 2020, my routine really never changed, aside from missing the random happy hour, going indoors to a restaurant to eat, the random @hitty movie that I didn't pay $14 for to watch in the theater, or the $200 outing to Dodger Stadium (or any large event). Had a few concerts planned that were scrapped, sporting events that I wish I could've attended but didn't, and the random friends who have drifted away, but the Pandemic really 'trimmed the fat,' in my personal and my professional life. You don't realize how much money you spend when you can't throw it at professional athletes, food and booze.

The Pandemic has caused now gotten me to work from home 100% of the time. Those 2 hour slogs from DTLA to the Westside are no longer. No more do I leave work at 5:30 pm, and get home at 7:30, while I sit in bumper to bumper traffic. My alarm is set for 7:59 am, and I can show up to work wearing my PJs if I want.

I find the mask thing very funny. Personally, I find wearing shoes annoying, but I still have to put them on if I want to enter my local 7-11 to get a slurpee, so a mask really isn't that much different. And anybody complaining about it, has other beefs to pick, so I don't even get into discussions with those folk. You just hope they are vaccinated so that my dollars don't end up keeping them alive on ventilators.

    Now as far as fishing?!

I think I've been fishing over 100 times this year. Had an amazing trip to Montana in May. Been fishing tournaments in a local bass club since Spring, and have been reconnecting with my bass buddies who all own boats. I've had some amazing days at some of the most beautiful lakes in California, and even when I cannot go out, I have a city pond about 5 minutes away, that has some decent populations of largemouth. I'm usually out there every lunch or after work, even if it's for an hour or so. Getting out of the house is key.

I do feel empathy for those social butterflies who feel like they're in a cage though. For those people, I recommend a trip to REI, and getting yourself a backpacking tent. Go reinvent yourself. You'll find that you really don't need other people to prop you up, when you can do so yourself.

For those who miss their family or families and could not interact with them during the Pandemic? I feel for those people too. The ones who frequented church and large gatherings who could no longer do so? I feel for them too.

Life just gave us lemons. You know the drill....
