Went out on the 4th. The usual ritual - take the boat out, anchor in LA harbor and watch the fireworks by the Queen Mary. The main goal is to get my dogs away from all the craziness in my neighborhood, people shooting off illegal fireworks until 3am! We usually anchor far enough away where we can still see them, but they're not super loud and the dogs are chill.

We launched early to do a little fishing first! Beautiful weather day, clear skies, flat seas. I didn't want to waste money buying bait so we trolled some Rapalas that I hand-painted over the covid vacation. They worked good! Caught a few barracuda and a big ole calico bass, all released. We fished the Horseshoe kelp / green buoy area. Same place we caught them the week before.

Went back in and anchored in the harbor. Cooked up some Ribeye, watched some fireworks and relaxed for the evening. Life is good!
