Thread: Thursday calicos 4/29/21

    Default Thursday calicos 4/29/21

    Decided to hit a spot this morning that normally produces on a negative low tide.
    At 5:44 it was -1.32 ft. PERFECT

    Arrived at gray light, which right now is 5:15
    The full moon had just passed so it was plenty light out.
    I hit the sand at 5:30 and after my second cast I landed a small 9-10" calico.
    I was going to take a picture but my phone was acting up so I put it back in the water.

    I messed with my phone after and got the camera to work correctly.

    I cast out a few more times and was on again with a heavier model;

    Cool, getting bigger!
    After the photo op I let the fish back in the water.
    I started casting and retrieving and a few casts later it was on again with a nice little fight;

    19 inch Calico.jpg

    Hell Yeah!
    This one taped out at 19 inches and weighed about 2-2 1/4 pounds.

    I continued to fish for about an hour total time and those were the only 3 that I caught.
    I'm not complaining though, I could have been at work...🥸

    Oh, the water was supposed to be 60 but felt more like 57.

    Last thing, the grunion are running now so get out there after the run and get yourself some flatties.
