Opening day has been a long time coming, but it’s finally here and we are back to catching trout. It’s the morning of the opener so look to next week’s report for the details of who caught what where. For those of you who have been gone for a while there are a few changes you will need to be aware of: 1.) Currently we are credit/debit only (no cash). 2. Prices went up. Escondido City Council voted to update the Lakes & Open Space Division’s rental and user fees. New fees are available for viewing on the city website. 3.) The fishing piers in Boat Dock Cove are closed due to public health concerns related to the ongoing Covid -19 pandemic.
Each month Whopper Contest winners in four categories are awarded a free fishing and boating permit. For information on the contest or fishing conditions, please contact the Ranger Station at (760) 839-4346.
