Default Lake Wohlford press release 2/6/21

    Date: 2/6/21

Park hours: Closed Currently (open beg. 2/13/21)
    Dock closes:
    Last Plant:

Next Plant: 3,000 lbs of Rainbow Trout Sat. Feb. 13th

    Water temperature: At surface 52.16 f., 8.25 D.O. @ 15’ 52.16 f., 8.15 D.O.

Water level: Low level, private watercraft are currently banned.

COMMUNITY NOTICE: Due to staffing issues caused by the COVID-19 pandemic Lake Wohlford is currently closed. We are planning to re-open Saturday February 13th. We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to seeing you at the Lake in the near future.

Permits and boat rentals are sold at the Ranger Station. We do not sell fishing licenses so anglers must acquire them elsewhere prior to their visit. Facial coverings are required when purchasing a fishing permit or when entering or exiting the boats or boat dock area. The lake is offering $20 all day motor boats to seniors on Tuesdays and Thursdays and to active military every Saturday.

In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels there is a ban on private watercraft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes; private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.

Saturday Feb. 13th is the first day of trout fishing and we will re-open seven days a week at that time. For those of you who have been gone for a while there are a few changes you will need to be aware of: 1.) Currently we are credit/debit only (no cash). 2. Prices went up. Escondido City Council voted to update the Lakes & Open Space Division’s rental and user fees. New fees are available for viewing on the city website. 3.) The fishing piers in Boat Dock Cove are closed due to public health concerns related to the ongoing Covid -19 pandemic.

They did have 2 false starts on their opening of trout season already. But I would bet this one will really happen! Why because it going to rain for 3 straight day's starting Friday! That should screw things up pretty good! Lol
