In spring of 2018 I started to not feel well. Throat swollen and difficulty breathing. At first I thought it was just allergies because we were having a bad pollen season but it kept going so went to my Dr. She said I have an infection, gave me antibiotics and sent me home. This went on for about 2 months back and forth to the Dr. and numerous antibiotics. Finally ended up seeing a specialist and they determined I have Grave's Disease which is an immune disease that attacks the thyroid. So they tried medications at first but that wasn't effective, finally ended up going through radiation treatment in spring 2019.

The treatment worked, started recovering, by late May I was ready to rock and roll, start fishing again! I made one trip to Catalina and caught some yellowtail. Then in early June my mom, almost 80, slipped and fell. Hit her head pretty bad and ended up in the hospital. She hung on for 2.5 months but ended up passing from complications. Lots of stuff to do after her passing so no time for fishing the rest of 2019.

And so here we are in 2020 and because of my graves disease I am high-risk for covid and have to be super careful. No getting together and fishing with friends like the old days. I could still go with my GF though since we live together and while getting the boat ready for a trip last May I ended up tweeking my back lifting some gas cans.

So back to the DR I went. Specialists, x-rays, MRI, and determined I need surgery to correct the problem. Had surgery on July 21st and still recovering at present. I'm hopeful that I'll be able to get out fishing again but probably not before this season ends.

A good friend once told me that health is wealth. You can have all the money in the world but if you're not healthy then it's worthless because you can't enjoy spending it. Here's to good health to all who still read this site. With any luck I will start posting reports again in 2021.

Hang in there, will pray you have a good recovery. Health is wealth indeed!

    I'm still fishing.

Although sharing the forest with half of Calfornia who have apparently and suddenly channeled their inner John Muirs and became members at REI kinda sucks.

And regarding fishing reports? They've been far and between long before the 'vid19.

Perhaps people finally realizing that nobody cares about their reports makes them not post them anymore cuz their egos are no longer stroked? Maybe they got tired of their posts have 10,000 views and one response? Who knows.

(Plus it's easier to post on the 'Gram/the 'Book/etc without your thread devolving in eTucker's political lessons and plus, you can also delete any comments that you don't see fit, keep your social circles close, block people, etc. etc.)

my motorcycle broke down a month ago so i havent been able to go out.. ordered parts right away.. but i think the ports are slow like always.. but ill be out when i can.. im also lazy and too lazy to edit videos.. though i dont have much footage left. oh and i have worked almost the full time.. in peoples houses.. i do finish carpentry...
i say leave politics off the fishing forums.. its better for everyone involved.. even private posts.. go to a political area where people will debate you till your last breath...
doing it on a fishing forum.. in sports.. in everything... will not win you fans. thats just facts.. used to be very well known facts.. even some would say common sense.
i think more are fishing now.. the cheap fishing weights are sold out in every size except ocean at the wal mart around me.. and have been for the past month.
also you are in fishing forum.. we all already have something in common stick to that instead of the other.

Thanks! Yes, the Hashimoto's is more common, especially in women. BTW, just in case anyone gets it twisted, the word Grave's doesn't mean I'm going to the grave anytime soon! It was discovered by some DR named Graves, lol. I just have to take medication every morning to control my thyroid and I'm fine.

When I was in graduate school, there was another student named Nancy Dye. She introduced me to her fiance once, whose last name was Graves. LOL I am not making this up.

How would you like to go to Doctor Graves or Doctor Dye? It's strange how so many diseases are named after doctors. Even some brain areas are named after doctors, like Wernicke's Area and Broca's Area, but I guess that makes more sense since they were "brainy" doctors.
